Hi! I’m Bison, but my foster mom calls me Chewy. She said something about all the little noises I make and my hair make her think of some big giant fur ball. I mean, she’s got the big giant part right. While the scale says I’m only about 5 lbs, I live by the motto “You are as big as you think you are” and THAT my friend means I’ve got the heart of a lion. However, don’t mistake me for a rough and tumble guy, I like my luxuries… cozy beds, sweet snuggles, yummy treats, long walks and more. Due to my short stature, I prefer to be picked up so I can be part of the party. I mean really, have you ever held a successful group convo when everyone else is towering at least 5 ft. above you? If you leave me on the floor when meeting new people, I tend to bark, but pick me up while introducing me and it’s cool. Have you ever heard of breed characteristics? Well I am a yorkie through and through sprinkled with some cute chihuahua traits! It takes me little time to settle into new places because I thrive on routine and structure. The more you spend time with me and care for me, the harder I will love you. In my foster home, I haven’t picked a favorite person yet. I am currently adjusting to my new, temporary family and am enjoying having all the adults in the household help me get comfortable and gain confidence. My favorite ways to do that are to sit in a chair next to them while they are working, snuggle up on the couch when they are watching TV or reading and going for walks…. I LOVE to go for walks! Now that spring is in the air, I’m up to a couple miles a day, spread out over 2-3 walks. Speaking of walks, I did decide to take myself for one the other day and darted right out the door. My foster mom kinda freaked out and said I’m a flight risk for now. I tend to agree with her because I’m pretty sure I’ll do it again if given the opportunity. So it’s on the leash, even in the yard for me! If you’re a home with no children under 6 years old (little ones make me anxious and I can get nippy if I'm really stressed), not a whole lot of activity (this makes me pace and whine from anxiety) and want a true blue buddy that will be by your side, even when you’re going to the bathroom, then I’m your guy! I seem to get along with other dogs my size that are also mellow, don’t really invade my space and let me just kinda do my thing. Since I’m only 2 years old, I am still exited to learn new things and eager to please; my newest trick I’ve learned is playing fetch. Think you might be the right forever home for me?
